Top 17 Most Amazingest LEGO creations EVAR in the Whole Universe and the Future

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Many of you have linked me to a feature on the Huffington Post blog today, which touts itself as presenting “The 17 Most Awesome LEGO Creations Of All Time.”

Now, there are a lot of cool creations in this list, many of which I think are awesome. But this post still bugs me for a number of reasons:

  • The hyperbole. If you’re going to claim to have the Most Awesome LEGO Creations OF ALL TIME, then maybe your blog post shouldn’t just look like you did a Google search for “LEGO” and picked seventeen things you thought looked cool. Research plz?
  • The number. Why ARE there seventeen images? Seems a rather esoteric amount. And they’re not in any particular order. What’s the deal?
  • The time frame. All of these images seem relatively recent. Some of the creations, like Jack Skellington and the John Lasseter bust, have been posted online only within the past several weeks or so.
  • The credits. There are none. Who made these creations? Where are the photo sources, so I can see the artists’ other creations? It doesn’t say. Isn’t this like netiquette rule #1?

But I digress. Obviously, as an AFOL myself (and a little bit of a fanboy snob), I’m bound to disagree with this post and these choices. And I do, but that’s the thing — you can’t really posit something like this; it’s almost completely subjective.

With all this in mind, I decided to compile MY “Top 17 Most Amazingest LEGO creations EVAR in the Whole Universe and the Future.” In no particular order. Enjoy.

Everybody’s getting psyched for the LEGO Club Show

Friday, February 12th, 2010

For the past few months, myself and some other folks here at Paganomation have been hard at work on segments for the LEGO Club Show, a new series from the folks at LEGO Club TV. Episode 1 has finally been put up on YouTube, after being released on the LEGO Club website back in January.

The intro to the show looks great — and is all stop-motion, as I mentioned before. While I didn’t work on the intro, I am responsible for Adventures of Max, Flappy the Mailbox, and the Zack the LEGO Maniac video. I’m really proud of the end results. Great work everybody! Enjoy!

Whereas I was once perplexed by it’s development, now I’m a new contributor to the LEGO CL!CK blog. My first post went up today, where I talk about being inspired by past visions of the future. Check it out!

LEGO Club Show Teaser

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

Recently posted to the LEGO Club TV YouTube channel is the intro to the LEGO Club Show that I’ve been working on segments for. I didn’t work on this intro, but I have to say, it’s pretty sweet.

I’ll keep you guys posted on when the actual show comes out!

UPDATE: I thought that portions of this intro were done in CG, but Roger @ LEGO informs me that the ENTIRE THING IS STOP-MOTION. Whoa.

Mysterious LEGO CL!CK website

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

I’ll admit it: I’m intrigued by this new “LEGO CL!CK” website, which seems to be a cross between LEGO fan site (albeit an official one) and an the ol’ idea books, many of which I’ve been using on as inspiration for my work on the LEGO Club TV segments.

I’m really not sure how the site works yet. Right now, the main area of interest on the site seems to be this stop-motion-esque teaser video.

But I dunno. It seems like it just launched (found the link on Joe Meno’s Facebook profile), so I guess we’ll just wait and see what happens. An episode of David Pickett’s Nightly News at Nine series is already up there, so that’s pretty cool — I’m glad that series is getting the attention it deserves.

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

About 30 seconds ago, I rolled out the first phase of the new Paganomation.com. There’s a lot of work to do yet, but little by little, it will be completed over the coming months. Take a look around and let me know what you think!

There’s some Paganomation-related business cropping up on YouTube.

First up is a tribute video by YouTube user Robukka:

There’s a new LEGO Space site up. What could it be about? I have no clue. I had nothing to do with it.
